Ashley Martin 2026, MSN, RN
Ashley never hesitates to go above and beyond for her patients.
Recently, she had a patient whose mental status kept declining and was very complex medically. Ashley noted her patient, although not able to verbally communicate anymore, really enjoyed holding Ashley’s hand and rubbing her blanket with her hand. Ashley noticed it helped to soothe her patient, who was otherwise hard to console due to declining mental status.
Ashley took it upon herself to get a stuffed animal from the gift shop that was very soft for her patient to hold and ease her anxiety. Ashley is loved by all her patients and is usually always told by her patients or family, but since this patient is non-verbal, I thought Ashley’s continuing good deeds should be noted and recognized.
What sets Ashley apart from others is that she never goes above and beyond just for the recognition or an “atta girl.” She does it behind the scenes because that is just who she is. The medical side of nursing can be taught, but the compassion, heart, and empathy needed cannot, and Ashley embodies it all. She is more than deserving. Ashley is known as the happiest, most caring person in our unit, and we all strive to be more like her.
