Ashley Mayhan exhibits the meaning of DAISY every day that she works. She relates with empathy with all patients across the lifespan, especially with young mothers and babies. One of Ashley's peers gave numerous examples of the time she has spent working with mothers on breastfeeding, and also doing tests in the office with the babies that would normally be done at the hospital, thinking of what would be more convenient for the mom and babe.
Recently there was a patient whose ride service had canceled and the patient was not only relying on the service for a ride to the office, but to go to the grocery store after the appointment. After Ashley reassured this crying patient, she immediately and calmly called Hannaford and arranged for groceries to be delivered to the patient and her son. She then bought a thank-you note and had one of her peers deliver it to the Hannaford manager who was astonished that Hannaford should receive the thanks. They said that the thanks should go to Ashley, stating that because of Ashley's calm, caring, and professional manner, calling from a doctor's office, she knew that there was a real need, and felt really good that Hannaford was helping someone in the community.
There are other examples of Ashley's advocacy for patients and her passion for life, and she is definitely an example of support for the entire healthcare team, staff and patients.
