It meant the world to "L" that Ashley would take her own personal time to visit with her on a Friday night.
Patient "L" shared with her sister three nurses and their specific treatment: Ashley, "S," and "T." It's not an exclusive list, but it recognizes exceptional care. The very most impressive was Ashley. I heard about Ashley before I came to visit. She appears to be a very young nurse who has an “old soul.” While there were many instances of her going beyond, two specific times should be noted. Ashley had been "L's" nurse multiple times and recognized her nose bleeding was excessive. "L" shared that Ashley helped advocate for "L" to get her nose cauterized and even held her hand to calm her. In addition, on "L's" last night in the hospital, Ashley clocked out and came to visit with her for about 30 minutes (as she was leaving on vacation and wouldn’t return for 10 days). At that time, none of us knew it would be "L's" last night, but it was the last story "L" told me. It meant the world to "L" that Ashley would take her own personal time to visit with her on a Friday night. As her sister, I am comforted to know someone "L" cared deeply for (and cared for her too) shared her time. It still makes me weepy to think about the kindness shared. While I am sad that my sister could not overcome her health issues, I am thankful that her last days were spent with others who truly cared for her. I find great comfort in knowing Mercy West did everything possible to make "L's" last days comfortable and filled with kindness. Please share my gratitude.
