Ashley Nygren, RN
Ashley Nygren, RN, Labor & Delivery, was nominated for supporting a family through a high-risk delivery.
A family recently visited Saint Agnes to deliver their third child. Given the high-risk nature of the delivery, Ashley took extraordinary care to ensure both mom and baby were safe and supported. During labor, the baby’s vitals dropped multiple times. Ashley responded quickly, taking the appropriate actions and working with the physician to bring the baby’s vitals back in range.
Despite the unit being busy, Ashley continued to make the patient and her loved ones a priority. “Beyond her clinical excellence, Ashley’s bedside manner truly sets her apart,” the patient says. “She checked in with us regularly, educated us thoroughly about what was happening, and made sure we understood each step of the process.”
When it came time for the baby to be born, Ashley’s shift had ended, but she stayed late to support the family through the final moments of labor instead of transitioning them to a new nurse during an intense situation.
