It was Ashley's strong nursing knowledge, experience, and swift movement that made it so I didn’t even need a blood transfusion, as most people do with so much blood loss.
Almost one year ago, I went in for complications with placenta previa and accreta. Ashley was my nurse. She prepped me for a stay of 7 days or more of observation and was so kind and patient with me. She even took care of my husband, making sure he ate food and was comfortable while I was getting my MRI. Upon my arrival back to my triage room, Ashley settled me in my bed when I began hemorrhaging. She alerted the staff and anesthesia immediately while keeping super calm and efficient. Only because of her push to staff and others involved in my care, she was able to rush me to OR6, where my amazing physicians performed an emergent c-section and hysterectomy. I am alive thanks to all the staff involved, but it was Ashley's strong nursing knowledge, experience, and swift movement that made it so I didn’t even need a blood transfusion, as most people do with so much blood loss. As if that wasn't enough, she stayed past her shift to hold my hand and keep me calm while in the OR prepped and not sedated. After I was intubated for anesthesia, she made sure my husband was settled with my son and stayed to be sure everything went smoothly and all was taken care of despite her shift being over.

I've met and respect a lot of nurses, but Ashley is one who exceeds the call of duty and does so with compassion and care. There are hardly words to express how thankful we are for her and her skills. She saved my life and my son's life and made a huge impact on all of our lives. She deserves all the recognition for how hard she works and the care that she provides. Thank you, Ashley, for all you do day in and day out! Making a big difference in critical moments and not even budging to stay when your shift is over. We are forever grateful to you.
