When I came to Labor and delivery, Ashley was our assigned nurse for the day, starting at 7 am. From the moment we met, I knew she would have my back and make sure our birth story went as easily as possible. Ashley walked in with a smile, warm greeting, and a confidence that put me at ease. She was by my side the entire day and through the laboring process. Her caring warm demeanor made it feel like I’ve known her and we were always friends. My husband and I both work in healthcare and were truly impressed with her care and compassion for us. Ashley carries all the UPMC core values: She provided quality care and safety by being by my side and advocating for me—making sure all my questions and concerns were answered. She cared about me and my wellness; she listened and reassured me over and over that everything was okay. As my husband would say—I would be an annoying over anxious patient—it did not phase Ashley. She answered every question over and over and made sure I was at ease and felt comfortable. She treated her team and us with dignity and respect. And of course, she cared and listened to everything we needed.  

A second-time mom—this experience was made so much better because of Ashley’s care!! She answered all of my questions, cleaned me, held my leg, made me comfortable, spoke to me with kindness, did not seem annoyed by me—and did everything she could to make our delivery go as best as it could.  

Ultimately—I was truly moved by Ashley! Not only a great nurse but a wonderful person—who truly loves and radiates joy, grace, and compassion.  

She does her job so well and shines in so many ways I’m sure she treats every patient dearly—but we feel special!
