A patient in the Coronary Intensive Care Unit was going to miss his daughter’s wedding due to his hospital stay. When Ashley and Maribeth discovered the daughter was coming in for a visit, they sprang into action. They found decorations, including balloons and streamers, a bride headband for the daughter, and a dessert the two could share. Maribeth even coordinated the patient’s ambulation for the afternoon, so he could walk out and meet her.

The entire Coronary Intensive Care Unit team develops relationships with our long-term heart failure patient population however, this a special example of how these two nurses went above and beyond to make this a memorable experience despite the disappointing circumstances.
