I wanted to thank you for the compassion you showed to me and my family. My mother was admitted to ICU with a serious life-threatening injury and we were faced with some difficult decisions. We met with the palliative care team and, in accordance with my mother's wishes, made the difficult decision to take her off the ventilator. My mother passed away about an hour after she was removed from the ventilator. On what was the worse day of my life, the staff at your facility and in particular, Ashley, the ICU nurse, made the day manageable. Ashley encouraged us to tell her stories about Mom while we waited for her to pass. Ashley wanted to learn more about Mom. I believe that my mother was not just a patient to Ashley, but that she genuinely cared to know her as the person she was. I can't express the depth of my gratitude for the care that my mother received from the caregivers in the ICU. My mom passed away with dignity surrounded by family.
