My dad had an outpatient procedure requiring a stay in the ICU pre and post-procedure. After the procedure and speaking with the physician, I left to pick up my mom so she could visit with dad for the afternoon. Just before leaving her apartment, she had a medical emergency and was transported to the ED for evaluation and treatment. My dad was concerned about her and she was concerned about him. I was going back and forth between the departments and informed his nurse Ashley of the happenings.
Ashley offered to bring dad by wheelchair to the ED so they could see each other before he was discharged to the care facility. She was able to complete discharge instructions with both of them. She was very positive, attentive, and caring during my dad's short stay. It meant a great deal to my elderly parents to be able to see each other. It left a lasting impression on our family and we have shared our story with others.
My mom recently passed away and we have a wonderful memory of a very special, caring and kind nurse who went the extra step because she cared! Thank you Ashley Rydquist.
