As Ashley cared for my son in the CVICU, she displayed a caring and compassionate attitude towards him and our family. She was never too busy to answer our questions or listen to our concerns. She was patient and would answer the same questions over and over if she needed to. She always kept us informed and updated with the latest information. Ashley was meticulous in the care that she provided to my son. I observed her actions and the accuracy of her care. I loved that she explained every detail of what and why she was doing what she was doing. Ashley was awesome at anticipating my son's needs. She tried to group her cares together and verbalize to staff what was best for him. She was also very flexible and a great advocate for managing his pain. She provided excellent care each and every time she entered the room like she had no other patients on that shift. Her stellar professional demeanor put us at ease. We were confident that he was in the very best of hands. As parents, one of us would always be in the room, but we felt comfortable enough with her to step out to be able to eat lunch. Moreover, she allowed me to play the role of "mom" instead of a nurse. Since my son's last cardiac surgery 6 months ago, Ashley has grown as an even brighter nurse. This shows that she is a truly dynamic, competent, and professional nurse. We trusted her 100% with our most prized possession. My husband, son, family and I wanted to make sure she knows just how wonderful we think she is. If we ever have to return to this unit, we can rest a little easier knowing that Ashley is part of the team.
