I am a stage IV colon cancer patient with a colostomy bag. I have been admitted to the hospital numerous times. Early this morning I had the most embarrassing moment in my life. My ostomy bag ruptured, and my stool was shooting out all over the place including the sheets and the floor. I was panicking. At the very moment my nurse, Ashley, stepped in the room; she displayed professionalism and courtesy in a manner that made my life much easier. I really appreciate her and all the staff who have helped me. This process for which Inova Health System trains their staff is exemplary. It is displayed in the supervisor and all the nurses, especially Ashley, who has shown what nurses should do for patients like me.
