Ashley Shultz had a patient in the ICU who was a TN Donor Patient. The TN Donor Association was waiting for the patient to pass so they could harvest her organs. It was going to be later on that day, late in the evening and the OR was having difficulty finding someone to come in and circulate the case. This meant that the family was not going to be able to have the comfort of knowing their loved one's wishes would be granted and that her death would ultimately be in vain if the donation were not possible. 

Ashley was not going to let that happen and made arrangements to be quickly trained enough in the OR so that she could come back to work and assist with the organ donation of her patient once she passed away. Ashley did come back to the hospital to assist in a job unfamiliar to her after working her 12-hour shift and she knew it would make a life-changing difference in not only her patient and the patient's family life but to so many other people waiting to be saved. 

Unfortunately, the patient did not pass in the allotted amount of time for Organ Donation. Ashley's willingness to step up and take on this task shows the dedication, commitment, and heart she has for her patients and her job as a Nurse. The TN Donor Association also recognized Ashley for stepping up to assist and rewarded her with a pin and Thankfulness.
