A wonderful attribute Ms. Libretti possesses is compassion. She treats everyone with great kindness, dignity, and role models these behaviors every day.
Ashly Libretti embodies all aspects of the Quality Caring Model. I have known Ms. Libretti for ten years and eight of those years as a leader. From day one as a leader, she understood the importance of "caring relationships". She comes to work with a positive attitude and staff respond to her in a positive manner, understanding what must be done at the moment. The staff always feel supported because Ms. Libretti works side by side with all team members no matter what the issue. She has been seen giving a bath, changing linens, and sitting at the side of a patient who just received life-changing news.
A wonderful attribute Ms. Libretti possesses is compassion. She treats everyone with great kindness, dignity, and role models these behaviors every day. She goes above and beyond to develop caring relationships with team members and patients. You will never see Ms. Libretti show frustration with her team members or patients. She continually reminds her team members everyone is on a journey in their life and they have been blessed to be a part of their journey.
As Ms. Libretti worked to strengthen the patient-staff relationship there was much to be thankful for as her team became stronger and it further strengthened the leader-staff relationship. The team often acknowledges Ms. Libretti for her leadership and the development of teamwork. When the unit is challenging, she is present in the moment and often will provide lunch or dinner for her team members when they are unable to take their breaks.
Ms. Libretti encourages team members to embrace nursing excellence and improve their practice through education, certification, and participation in research. All team members eligible for certification are certified, 45% of the nurses are master's prepared and team members are currently exploring what they can do as a research project. Ms. Libretti is also pursuing advanced education understanding the climate of nursing and demonstrating the value of the professional nurse.
Ms. Libretti is the EPIC nurse champion for Advocate Christ Medical Center and is called upon no less than 7-10 times a day to assist all nursing staff during this journey. She meets all team members with patience and ensures all are comfortable with the resolution. Ms. Libretti is contacted often by the Executive Team to get the overall sense of the nursing environment during the EPIC implementation.
Ms. Libretti is committed to keeping all patients safe. There has not been a Fall for 123 days, CAUTI for 153 days, and CLABSI for 274 days. What has come from keeping the patients safe is an environment where the team members are proud and satisfied. They have connected patient safety and job satisfaction as one of their driving forces in patient satisfaction and are seeing great results. Ms. Libretti is always humble when she is provided with recognition and attributes success to her team. I have known this amazing leader for ten years and am proud to call her my colleague.
