I heard the singing and watched as the patient was just staring at Ashlyn just as calm and peaceful.
Today, I was walking in the hallway and I heard Ashlyn, RN singing to a patient. Ashlyn had no idea I was listening to her beautiful voice. I found out later that the phlebotomist, C, was going to draw labs on the patient and he became very anxious. C asked Ashlyn if she could do something to help calm the patient down before she stuck him for labs; that's when Ashlyn began to sing to him. I heard the singing and watched as the patient was just staring at Ashlyn just as calm and peaceful. Great job to C for noticing the patient’s anxiety and intervening and great job to Ashlyn for the beautiful, mesmerizing song. This is just another way all disciplines put our patients first and work together for their comfort and ease!
