You make a difference every day on our unit, but this day, you provided guidance, support, thoughtfulness, and love.
Guiding a family through the loss of a child is one of the hardest things we have to do as a nurse in Labor and Delivery. Recently, you and I had to experience this together. There are things you can teach new nurses and there are things you bring with you, that is just who you are. You make a difference every day on our unit, but this day, you provided guidance, support, thoughtfulness, and love. You included the mother's family with the baby's delivery. You provided comfort to her entire family. I watched as you asked the mom, sister, and patient's mother if they wanted to help dress baby into her little jammies. You made footprint cards for everyone in the room and extra ones for her twin boys. You involved them in everything so they could start their grieving process. This is what nursing is about. Through your own tears. You helped them. This is what nursing is about. I am so proud to work next to you. This family will always remember you. You are exactly where you are supposed to be.
