My child has been in and out of the system for years. Depression and anxiety is a constant variable in our lives. We have been in and out of facilities for years. My child came here in a crisis. She was cutting and using illicit drugs. Ashton was her nurse the first night, my child told me all about how she was treated. Ashton communicated the need to take control of her life, by setting attainable goals, asking for help when she needs help, and giving herself daily challenges. My daughter was prompted by Ashton to write a list of goals and challenges. I have never seen my daughter so positive. For the first time in forever, my daughter had a reason to live. Ashton not only inspired her to compose this list, but also helped her brainstorm and give her pointers and ideas. This is the first time anyone has spent that much time with my daughter. It was a breath of fresh air and completely unexpected. The world needs more positive role models like Ashton. God bless Cone Health.
