On Wednesday, I was admitted to Women's and Children's for an induction. I labored Wednesday night, all day Thursday, and all day Friday. I had been given two different cervical softeners and was constantly getting Pitocin the whole time. Many nurses and doctors have tried many different things. Nothing was working. I was still only 2-3cm dilated.

I had my water broken Friday night around 10:30 pm. Ashton was my day nurse on Saturday. My doctor came in at 8:00 am and told me that I would need a C-Section if there were no changes by noon. Ashton knew I did not want that. She made it her personal goal to make sure that did not happen that day and that I was going to have a vaginal delivery. Ashton checked on me every 30 minutes (at least). She put me in a different Spinning Babies position every time she came in. She pushed the limits and tried things that felt out of the box. She was personally invested in my journey.

Thanks to Ashton, I was able to have the birth I wanted. I feel that Ashton went above and beyond the entire time she was with me. She explained everything she was doing and how it would help. She brought music into the room to distract me. I felt that my needs and goals were listened to. Ashton also enlisted the help of many other nurses to assist me as well. She was with me the entire time, and I am eternally grateful for her. I wish I could nominate the entire L&D floor for my experience. This also may sound like routine practice to everyone, but I may only give birth one time, and Ashton really made my vaginal delivery happen. She also came to see us the next day. It really meant so much to me to have someone else in my corner my entire delivery experience.
