Athena cared for a patient at the Northwest Gastroenterology group in Arlington Heights. I came for a colonoscopy screening. Due to COVID-19, a family member was unable to be in the facility. The patient was nervous, thirsty, and sore because of the prep from the night before. Athena was very patient-centered and tended to her patient's needs. She described Athena as a leader at the facility by her nursing knowledge and the way she communicated with her colleagues and patients. Ironically, Athena had cared for the same patient a few years ago for a different procedure. She remembered her patient! The patient felt very safe while in Athena's care and describes Athena as a very genuine, empathetic person who definitely chose the right profession. NCH is fortunate to have a nurse like Athena on staff. She made a miserable procedure tolerable.
