February 2018 Honoree
athenea dean, RN
I was released a week earlier but fell at home and put back in ICU. I had no time or person to handle my affairs before I left. I was worried my cat wouldn't be fed. Athenea volunteered to go to my house to feed and water "Meow". It was snowing heavily with ice that night, but after her shift at 7 PM, Athenea drove to my house, gave Meow enough food and water to last a few days and brought me my cell phone. I am forever in her debt for such a kind and generous task; I have never met any person with such compassion and generosity in my life. Anyone who gets off a 12-hour shift then goes out of her way to help someone in need is indeed a special person. I wish I could repay her kindness in some way. She has restored my faith in people.
Thank you, Athenea, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
