It was a very busy unit that had not been able to walk me post-op. I asked Athira if she could find someone to help me. She immediately said she would right now.
We took a walk down the corridor to a large area so I could see outside. As we were walking, she hugged me saying it felt like she was walking her mom. After getting back in bed I told her if she ever needed a momma hug to come see me. She hugged me and kissed the top of my head. I told her she was now my daughter.
We laughed and cried. She was my nurse the next day and again I felt such a connection to her. The next day she was my nurse and was so caring and compassionate to all my needs. All the staff exceeded my expectations, but she stood out.
