An RRT occurred that quickly transitioned into a Code Blue event. The patient’s daughter, who was 7 months pregnant, was present at the bedside and witnessed the event. While staff were caring for the patient, Atiyyah noticed the daughter was in distress and needed attention. Atiyyah sat with the daughter, holding her hand and offering reassurance. Upon request from the daughter, Atiyyah assisted in contacting family members to alert them of the situation. Juice, tissues, and other comfort items were provided by Atiyyah in the daughter’s time of need. Atiyyah’s kind and sympathetic heart, extending compassionate care to a family member has earned her the honor of being this month’s DAISY award recipient!
