July 2023 Honoree
Audrey Carchenko, MSN, RN
My father, age 80, ended up being admitted to CHI- St. Alexius Dickinson twice over a 3-week period of time. These were not related to poor care anywhere, simply medical events that happened to an elderly man who had suffered a stroke a month before being admitted to the hospital. Audrey's knowledge, attention, and care at his bedside exemplified what good nursing care delivers. Dad felt better not just because he physically improved, but because Audrey's caring demeanor really did make things better. She brings a level of humility and compassion that is not commonly found in healthcare. She built a relationship with Dad at a time when he was scared and vulnerable. Our family, including Dad, will be forever grateful to Audrey for sharing her "heart of a nurse" kindness!
Thank you, Audrey, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
