Audrey was not only an inspirational, caring person with a huge heart, but she also made my stay in the ICU amazing! She was by my side when I had pneumonia and on ICU for two days. I never had to ask for anything. She was always on time with my meds, turning me and anything else I needed. I was transferred to another unit for a short time until I was unable to breathe on my own and was intubated. I was taken back to ICU. Audrey was not my nurse but she checked on me everyday.
I felt like she was part of my family. Audrey is an amazing nurse and has an even more amazing heart! She was comforting to not only me but also to my family. Words can not express how grateful I am to have had Audrey during this time in my life!
Thank you! Thank you! Keep your smile and God Bless!

My mother was very ill with pneumonia and septic. Audrey was determined to get her off the IV blood pressure medication and was constantly checking and adjusting it. Mom was really struggling to talk because her mouth was so dry. Audrey cleaned it every hour to help improve it. Mom's temperature was low but she felt like she was burning up. Audrey set up the Bair Hugger which was more comfortable than heavy blankets for mom. She taped the top sides down to keep it off her face. Audrey endlessly explained to us why she was doing things, what we should watch for and what the goals were. She even fixed wrinkles in the bed to make mom more comfortable. It was Christmas Eve and Audrey could not have been more pleasant. She did so much more than just be available and monitor things. Audrey was outstanding!

From the moment Audrey started working on our unit, it was obvious she would be a great asset. Her kind and compassionate demeanor is invaluable, as evidenced by her being placed quite often on a care team for a patient. Families and patients respond well to Audrey and they value the time she spends with them providing compassionate care. These patients and their families remember her and request her as their caregiver. Audrey is the epitome of a team player. She often changes assignments without uttering a word and always with a smile.
Recently there was a patient who had a care team. The nurse originally assigned to that patient had to leave early. Knowing that the patient and family were time consuming and a public relations issue, I looked at my staffing options to see who could take care of this patient and the family needs. Without a doubt, Audrey was the most appropriate nurse for this job. When I told her of the plan for us to change her assignment, she smiled and said "no problem". As a team leader, it makes it so much easier to have a staff member perform the job so easily and with a smile! Audrey is also known for her attention to detail. She leaves no stone unturned when it comes to her patient care and charting. Her rooms are immaculate, which leaves a lasting positive impression on the patients and families.
Audrey is a role model for her co-workers, both for her compassionate care and her team player skills. Her co-workers know they can rely on her for help or just for a sympathetic ear to listen! We appreciate Audrey for her exceptional care and making a difference for her patients and her co-workers!
