Austin Hartfield, RN

Austin was our nurse as soon as we arrived in the Emergency Department with my newborn son. We had come to the ER because he was experiencing severe stomach pain and had been crying for hours. As a first-time mom, I was emotional, overwhelmed, and worried about my baby. From the moment Austin began caring for us, he took the time to walk me through his assessment and explain what was happening. His calm demeanor, excellent communication skills, and reassuring presence helped ease my fears and gave me confidence that my son was in good hands. He acted quickly to ensure my baby received the care he needed while still taking the time to answer my questions and address my concerns.

What stood out most was Austin’s compassion. While my entire focus was on my son, I neglected my own needs. Austin recognized this and made sure I was cared for as well. His empathy and kindness made an incredibly stressful situation much more manageable. Without his support, I would have remained overwhelmed and distraught throughout our visit. Austin embodies everything a nurse should be: compassionate, skilled, attentive, and dedicated to both his patients and their families. He made a lasting impact on our experience, and I am deeply grateful for the exceptional care he provided. He truly deserves DAISY Award recognition.
