Autumn started a program that gave better support to the patients who miscarried in the Emergency Department. She put together mementoes that would be given to each patient along with new paperwork to assist nurses in caring for them. She also started presenting to her staff. The hardest part that Autumn implemented was doing return calls. Autumn would call each patient once they were home to make sure they were doing better and had the resources they needed.
This past year Autumn became the co-facilitator for our support group. The group is called PAILS (Pregnancy and Infant Loss Support group). It is for any and all moms who have lost a baby, regardless of gestational age at the time of loss. This group has become a lifeline for moms. Autumn is truly a blessing and is changing the world of nursing! She is more than deserving of this award!
