Autumn’s actions exemplify compassionate leadership and a profound dedication to patient‑centered care.
I would like to extend heartfelt recognition to Autumn for her extraordinary leadership, compassion, and dedication during one of the most meaningful patient experiences our unit has shared.

Autumn played a central role in coordinating the efforts for a patient who had been hospitalized for nearly two months. He lived a simple, off‑grid life and often expressed how difficult it was to be confined to a hospital room — a space that felt like a prison to him. As he transitioned to comfort care, he shared one final wish: to die outside, surrounded by the openness and peace that had defined his life.

Honoring this wish required thoughtful planning, cross‑disciplinary coordination, and steady leadership — all of which Autumn was involved in. She even picked up an extra charge shift to ensure continuity, close the loop, and see the plan carried through to completion. Thanks to her efforts and the efforts of others, our team was able to safely bring the patient to the helipad, allowing him to pass away outdoors in the way that mattered most to him.

Autumn’s actions exemplify compassionate leadership and a profound dedication to patient‑centered care. Her willingness to go above and beyond made a deeply human moment possible, one that will stay with everyone who was part of it.

Thank you, Autumn, for your integrity, your heart, and the steady guidance you bring to our team.

Elevating Team Morale and Pride:

Seeing what was possible when the team came together inspired a deep sense of pride across the unit. Moments like this remind staff why they chose healthcare — and help renew purpose during times when the work can feel heavy.

Reinforcing a Culture of Going Above and Beyond:

By taking an extra shift to ensure follow‑through, Autumn modeled the value of ownership and continuity. Her actions demonstrated that “going the extra mile” is not just appreciated — it can be transformative for patients, families, and our team.
