My wife and I selected a doula to be present during our labor and delivery at the hospital. Our doula was the only familiar face in terms of birthing professionals. We had met with her for months and she provided comfort and safety that we attribute to being a huge part of my wife’s delivery. The physician was requesting the doula to leave, but Autumn stood up for our doula. Autumn placed our well-being and wishes over the comfort of the physician and risked her own relationship with the doctor to make sure that we could have our doula present. Her willingness to put our needs over her own exemplifies the standard of placing the patient's needs first. Her selflessness and bravery played a large role in keeping our doula in the room and therefore making my wife’s birthing process a highly favorable one.
