She is also a strong patient advocate, and I am impressed with her compassionate bedside manner. She pays close attention to patients’ needs and confidently advocates for their needs on their behalf.
Autumn transitioned during her Transition To Practice nurse residency time and quickly let us know that her project was centered around OB/ICU collaboration. Through her TTP project, she put together a beautiful resource binder for ICU nurses to reference to assist with the collaboration of care for maternal patients. It was an amazing project that has had great feedback & we are currently hoping to have it accepted at a conference as a poster presentation.

Outside of her amazing work through collaboration, Autumn has proved to be an INCREDIBLE bedside nurse and teammate. Autumn is one of our top nurses recognized in patient rounding as someone who goes above and beyond for her patients. She is frequently recognized by her peers as someone who is a great team player and always has a positive attitude. When I round, Autumn is usually found smiling & bouncing between her patient rooms to deliver exceptional care!

I wanted to recognize Autumn for advocating for her patient! I went to do mommy rounds and circ consent for a new baby after a difficult birth course. As I popped in, another doctor was coming out of the room already. I was about to launch into my monologue when Autumn gently interrupted me and informed me that the patient had only JUST started her first minute of skin to skin since baby was born. The patient looked so relieved and thanked Autumn for saying something. So glad she was willing to advocate for that precious healing time for Mom!

I wanted to send an e-mail to share how impressed I am with the work Autumn is doing. Multiple times on L&D, Autumn has taken care of our sickest patients, managing Mag Sulfate drips, insulin drips, pitocin drips - often all on the same patient! Her attention to detail and making sure we put patient safety first should be imitated by us all. For example, when a patient has multiple IVs and drips going, she will always clarify the rates and amount of fluids the patient is receiving, as often our orders don't account for a patient receiving so many different fluids from different drips. I am sure this attention to detail comes from her ICU training! She is also a strong patient advocate, and I am impressed with her compassionate bedside manner. She pays close attention to patients’ needs and confidently advocates for their needs on their behalf - i.e. pain management, etc. Lastly, she receives feedback well, circles back to the team with changes and updates, and is always wanting to learn. We are lucky to have her on L&D!
