Ava Durina went above and beyond to make K as comfortable as possible. Being attached to an external drainage system is difficult, but Ava asked K to name the device and make it official by giving it a name outside the door. “Mr. Tubey” became not only a source that is life-dependent for K, but also a friend that she felt attached to. Ava’s conversations with K made that happen. Ava deserves recognition because she connects with her patients and truly cares for them. Thank you, Ava, for making K’s hospital stay a little more tolerable. You’re amazing, and the fact that you do it with a smile says it all!
