Averi Roloff is the most deserving student nurse I have ever had the privilege of mentoring. She is easy to talk with, energetic, learns quickly, and takes criticism and redirection well. She is a safe nurse and I am very impressed with her initiative. She is not afraid to ask questions, look up information, or get involved with difficult cases. She is constantly educating herself by researching new diagnoses, medications, or treatments, and even keeps an online account of her findings so that she can use it as a reference for herself or others. She is a real team player. Whether the department is slow or busting at the seams, she does not wait to be asked to jump in. The staff here can’t speak highly enough of her. The best compliment we can give her is to let her know she is respected, loved, and adored. She is already one of us….she is part of our family. She is confident, professional, and courteous with her patients and their families. She takes the time to sit down, listen carefully and respectfully, and collaborate with providers to give them the best care possible. She has become a strong patient advocate, and many patients have personally expressed their gratitude for the care and compassion she has shown them. Although I am going to miss her, I know that Averi is going to soar. She is one of those rare, special gems in nursing. She is a calming presence for her patients and the staff here. She is compassionate and thorough with the care she gives. She is humble and grateful for all of her experiences. She has thanked me for being her preceptor countless times, but it is I who am thankful. I am honored that I had the privilege of mentoring her, and I hope that one day I will be able to work with her again.
