My mother was in RMH for pneumonia and Avin was her nurse on New Year's Eve. Avin showed both my mother and me a level of care and concern, sympathy, love, dedication, pure heartfelt, genuine compassion on a night that I just learned that my mother was terminal and I was told she would not get better. My mother is ready to go be with my dad in heaven and was talking about seeing him in her room and walking the halls. I was having a hard time respecting her wishes for DNR and DNI and her refusal for any necessary means to keep living. Avin treated me as if I were her best friend and stayed with me, talked to me, wanted to comfort me and if I didn't know better, cried with me. I felt love and true kinship with a person I just met. Avin was not just a Godsend to me on New Year's Eve, but the hand I needed to hold and the hug I needed on a sad night. God put her in my path on this night that I needed to rely on Him to know what not only what mom needed but what I needed as well. Avin is the best nurse I have ever had the pleasure of knowing.
