Avneet was my husband's night shift nurse for four days at Henry Ford Hospital. From the first night, Avneet exemplified the nursing mission as it should be.
After waiting 18 hours in the Emergency Room to get a room on the unit, both my husband and I were beyond exhausted. The nurse before Avneet had ordered dinner at 6:00pm and his shift ended. So, two hours later, the food never came. So, anxious and tired, I went up to the nurse's station and inquired. Avneet was the first to apologize and as frustrated as I was, and as young as his nurse was, she was able to absorb my frustration and understood how to embrace me with affection during this hard time.
Avneet is always smiling, patient and a super caring human being. For the 4 nights she took care of my husband, she listened to him, gave him his medication on time and everything she did she did while explaining in detail. Avneet would get information for all my questions. She deserves this award for having the love, wisdom and compassion that goes beyond her tender age.
