The day I met her, I was almost blinded by her aura and illuminating energy. At that moment, I personally knew there stood an angel in my midst.
This nurse is an exceptional individual and nurse. Her knowledge and skills rate as the highest within her field of expertise. Certainly, she is a valuable employee of Northside Hospital Gwinnett. The day I met her, I was almost blinded by her aura and illuminating energy. At that moment, I personally knew there stood an angel in my midst. This nurse communicated well with me concerning my illness and assisted me more than any other on my road to recovery. She is again, an exceptional and dedicated employee. Without a doubt, I assure you her qualities are recognized amongst her peers, co-workers, and patients. She is most deserving of this award. I was blessed to be in her care. This nurse is the breath of our community, her family, husband, and children. Thank you for being a nurse and God’s servant by focusing on those with the highest value. Just like the flower DAISY, she’s a symbol of rebirth.

During my stay, Nurse Avnika displayed a high degree of professionalism, courtesy, and knowledge of her profession, and most of all the ability to communicate in such a way that made me feel like everything was going to be all right. When I first came in, Ms. Avnika was my first nurse. She displayed a level of dedication and compassion that touched me right away. I hope whomever Ms. Avnika trains in the future can pick up her habits as a nurse. Here’s why. Being a good nurse is so much more than just the technical part. It’s the natural ability to treat others the way you would like to be treated. It’s the ability to understand the amount of stress that comes with being hospitalized and fear of the unknown, and the ability to recognize these stressors and try to ease some of the patient’s concerns. This is where she shines! In closing, Ms. Avnika is an exemplary employee and should be recognized as such. I read that the DAISY Award is specifically for extraordinary nurses…Ms. Avnika is definitely extraordinary in every way, and she should be recognized as such.

Avnika is a thoughtful and caring nurse. She consistently helps her team and cares for her patients with kindness and compassion. However, Avnika’s most notable characteristic is her unwavering commitment to teamwork. Among an endless amount of examples that exemplify her commitment to teamwork, one specific example that the 8-South leadership team recalls is a shift where another nurse was having a particularly difficult day. Without hesitation, Avnika offered to assist with her patients, responding to call lights and addressing all the needs of the other nurses’ patients while carrying a full patient load herself. Avnika often works extra shifts to help the team when we are short.
Amongst other achievements, she was recently chosen as a team player of the month by her peers for her compassion and team-oriented attitude. Avnika has worked in the US as a nurse for less than a year, and she has been commended by her patients on multiple occasions. She always keeps the patient’s safety at the forefront of her care, and consistently demonstrates that all things “patient-oriented” comes first.
Furthermore, she recently received a good-catch award for her close attention to detail, noting a medication error. She advocates for her patients every day – it can be something as small as getting the patient a warm meal, to making sure the patient receives medications on time. She has a positive attitude and is an absolute pleasure to work alongside as a Northside colleague. We are proud to have Avnika on our team and are excited to be a part of her continued growth as a nurse. Avnika is a great representation of a Northside Gwinnett DAISY Nurse.
