We met Ayesha on a day that was distressing and challenging for both our mother and us. Having been a patient for the previous week and generally in a stable condition, our mother experienced a medical episode that had significantly altered her presentation. With impaired communication, we struggled to understand what our mother was telling us. Ayesha supported us through a difficult time, providing a calm presence as she continued to monitor our mother’s condition, seeking guidance, and facilitating complicated changes to reduce distress. She achieved this while communicating with both our mother and us, always in a professional and empathetic manner. Ayesha did not trivialize or dismiss any of our concerns and referred to more senior staff when appropriate. We knew that our mother was not Ayesha’s only patient that day, and yet she never wavered in her attentiveness to us or in undertaking her nursing duties. When we left the hospital that day, we did so confident that Ayesha’s care, attention to detail, and keen observation would ensure our mother received the best level of nursing possible.

Thank you, Ayesha, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
