Although all the nurses and staff we encountered during my husband's hospital stay were polite, helpful and knowledgeable, Ayi stood out. To set the stage, the hospital was very busy and full. Staff was stretched. My husband had a less than perfect roommate. He has dementia and aphasia, so I needed to stay with him. The staff was very understanding. They made our stay as comfortable as a hospital stay can be.
Ayi went above and beyond to make my husband comfortable. She was very patient and understanding with him, assuring him if I was out of the of the room. Explaining who that man in the other bed was, helping him understand where he was, etc. On Tuesday he was supposed to have a stress test. He had no food or liquids after midnight. At 2 PM, I asked about the test. Ayi checked and someone had neglected to order the test. She checked his lab results, platelets were OK. I asked to go home as the test is why he was there. She called the hospital doctor. He agreed that we could go home. We were out of there in 30 minutes. She wheeled him to the car and we were on our way home. Ayi is a very caring person I am sure she treated all her patients as well as she treated my husband.
