We will never forget this nurse. First of all, she shares the name of one of my favorite authors. Secondly, despite the masks they wore, her joy and compassion always shone through every time she came to check on my mom. Her care and patience were traits I had only seen among the nurses at Makati Med when my husband was treated for his illness there 14 years ago. Now, I consider such care to be the standard, but this nurse stood out because she always visited my mom before going home and even gave her a delightful gift on her 100th birthday, which we celebrated in the hospital. My mom's face always lit up when she knew Ayn was taking care of her. She never made us feel like her care for my mom was merely part of her job; it was personal for her. She was almost like a granddaughter, ensuring that my mom would be okay every single day. I hope she gets recognized for this, and I hope she is appreciated for going beyond what is expected.
