My 24-year-old son has been through numerous rounds of chemo and surgery before we arrived at MD Anderson for a stem cell transplant and met Bahaa. There were times when he was so discouraged and weary from the demands of treatment. It was during one of these low moments that I noticed how Bahaa took the time to get to know him, to talk with him, to help him push past the challenges. He remarked that his compassionate encouragement, "could put a smile on my son's face when no one else could. He deeply touched our lives. I pray that his efforts will be recognized because this nurse made a lasting impact on our family.
