December 2023 Honoree
Bailee N Bartley, MBA, BSN, RN, Medsurg-BC
There is a patient in our care who has been here for 77 days and counting. The patient has a traumatic brain injury. During some of this time the patient was in restraints and the patient never left the room. Utilizing her previous knowledge as a trauma nurse, Bailee identified that the patient needed interaction beyond the nurse/patient relationship. Bailee took time out of her daily schedule to spend time getting to know the patient. On several occasions Bailee took the patient outside for fresh air and to get a different view. Due to her astute care and Bailee seeing the patient as an individual person, the patient was able removed from restraints. This created a trickledown effect which will allow the patient to be eligible for more placement options, which are closer to home. Not only did Bailee treat the patient as an individual, she was able to return some dignity to the patient by helping him understand what was needed to be released from restraints. This is just one example of Bailee going above and beyond to provide excellent patient care, there are many other patients that Bailee has helped maintain dignity through compassionate care.
Thank you, Bailee N, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
