I was hospitalized recently, and as a nurse, I did not like being the one lying in the hospital bed. On the first day, I admit, I was a little nervous and scared, as I thought maybe I was having issues with my heart. I was also exhausted from being up all night in the ER. This nurse was very calm and very patient with me. As I said, I am a nurse, and sometimes we make the worst patients. She let me know everything that was going on, explained every medication, and allowed me to ask questions. I ended up having a heart catheter, and afterwards, she was diligent about checking on my TR band and caught slight bleeding early. She is very observant and knowledgeable, which made me feel completely safe in her care.

It just so happens that pre-covid, I worked PRN in the SIM Lab at Kilgore College, and she was one of my students. She was always highly intelligent, caring, and professional. I always knew she would be a good nurse back then, but never imagined she would be caring for me. I am truly grateful for her excellent care, and I know that her care for me reflects on how she cares for other patients. I feel that she truly deserves recognition for her hard work and dedication to her patients, the nursing profession, and our hospital. She is an excellent nurse and is a great asset to the Christus Good Shepherd family.
