February 2019 Honoree
bailey van liew, BSN, RN
Huge kudos to Bailey from ICU! There was a very sick patient in the cardiac care unit (CCU). A medical emergency and sepsis alert was called. Bailey, the ICU nurse who responded to the medical alert, was very supportive of the CCU team who are not used to calling medical emergency alerts since it is a step down unit now. Bailey was pleasant and encouraging to the primary nurse of the patient. She kept telling the nurse she did the right thing advocating for the patient and complimented her critical thinking skills. Bailey also took the time to comfort and explain to the patient's husband.
It was decided to keep the patient in CCU and Bailey responded to two more medical emergencies for this patient. Bailey kept her upbeat, pleasant demeanor, and was awesome at coaching the primary RN and CCU staff regarding calling the medical alerts. Bailey assisted with transporting the patient to ICU and never lost her charm or smile. Bailey is an outstanding wingman!

Thank you, Bailey, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
