Bailey was so calm, warm and had me laughing during a time that could have been so scary and anxiety-provoking for me.
Not only am I an employee of Nebraska Medicine, but in March 2021 I became a cancer patient at Nebraska Medicine. I was diagnosed with breast cancer at 13 weeks pregnant, which was an extremely shocking and scary diagnosis to receive. I work in oncology here, so becoming the patient was extremely foreign to me. Shortly after diagnosis, I learned that I would have to receive chemotherapy. Bailey was the very first nurse I had in the infusion center for my first dose of chemo. Bailey previously worked with me on 7 Werner, and I was actually her preceptor when she was a new grad. Having a nurse (and friend) that I knew and trusted for my first port access and chemo infusion was such a comfort to me. I can't fully explain in words how grateful I am to have had Bailey there. She was so calm, warm and had me laughing during a time that could have been so scary and anxiety-provoking for me. Bailey continued to be there for me throughout my treatment, and even if she wasn't my nurse on chemo day, if she was working, she would always pop in to see me and chat. I am so thankful to have such caring nurses and colleagues take care of me while I am a patient here at Nebraska Medicine.
