After delivering our son in the evening the following morning Barb offered to bring us homemade breakfast and we of course took her up on the offer.
Barb is a lot of things to a lot of people. For me she has been a friend and coworker but this past February she was my CRNA and I was her patient. Working in healthcare can make it hard when you become the patient but Barb made it easy. In February I was induced with my first child and admitted to the Labor and Delivery at Aultman Orrville Hospital. Barb made a point to come in a visit with me and my husband once we got settled. I was admittedly nervous! Barb was on-call that night and for the weekend so I would message her to keep her updated because I knew I would be needing her eventually for my epidural. Before long it was that time and Barb was so caring and professional. Even though I’m a nurse and have watched her do epidurals for other patients she still explained what she was doing and what I would feel. This can be an easy thing to forget when people take care of their fellow healthcare workers. Barb made sure my epidural was in perfect working order. After delivering our son in the evening the following morning Barb offered to bring us homemade breakfast and we of course took her up on the offer. I’m sure she doesn’t do that for all her patients, but it made me feel so cared for and it gave her the opportunity to meet our newest addition. She asked me how I was feeling and all about our experience. I can’t thank Barb enough for taking such phenomenal care of both my son and me. She made an overwhelming time go smoothly. Any patient should be so lucky to have such a knowledgeable and compassionate person as their CRNA.
