I had a patient having issues with his pacemaker/ICD where it was spiking incorrectly, throwing him into arrhythmias, and then having to shock him out of it. This happened multiple times, so Barb dug into this person’s case, including records from MA, called Medtronic, and explained to the rep exactly what was happening. This prompted the representative to come from IC to interrogate the pacemaker, confirm that she was exactly right about the issue, and adjust the settings. It is now sensing properly, and the patient has not required another shock. I am beyond grateful that Barb was here with her extensive knowledge, expertise, and access to help me solve this issue. The patient is feeling much better and was extremely appreciative that she was able to identify the problem and initiate the process to resolve it.
