July 2026 Honoree
Barb Rivard, BSN, RN, CCRN
Barb has been a consistent presence in our NICU since its early days, helping navigate the challenges of our opening and shaping the unit into the success it is today. While her quick wit and direct nature might be what you notice first, they are simply the exterior of a deeply caring and dedicated nurse.
When she's in the Charge Nurse role, she actively seeks out ways to support her team. Whether she is checking in to see who needs help, volunteering for deliveries regardless of her assigned role, or stepping in to cover HUC/PCA tasks when we are short-staffed, Barb ensures the unit runs smoothly. She also can be seen with a nursing student trailing behind her or teaching an NRP class. She never asks someone to do something she wouldn't do herself.
Beyond her clinical skill, she generously shares her time, her wisdom, and even her famous baked goods, creating a sense of family and belonging on the unit. She isn't just a coworker; she is a friend and an advocate who makes the hardest shifts feel manageable.
Barb is an asset to our unit, and I am happy to nominate her for this recognition.
