Mrs. Barbara demonstrated above and beyond the patience a nurse should have. Anyone else would have lost their temper. During my stay when I had a colostomy reversal, I was placed on a liquid diet. Being a short-tempered man who felt like I was being starved and imprisoned, I lost my cool and proceeded to scream, yell, and show my batt. This lady never once let my attitude affect her. She remained calm and professional. She managed somehow to calm me down. She called my doctor for me and explained to me the rationality of why I had to have liquid I calmed down and apologized to everyone. Barbara never lost her cool with me. She remained professional. I told her how sorry I was for my behavior. I know all the nurses work hard and everyone gets upset, but her calm rational behavior really helped me through a hard time. I had her as my nurse for 3 more days and we were able to joke and laugh about it later. She never let me feel ashamed for what I did or how I acted. She is truly an inspiration and a wonderful woman. Thank you, Barbara, for all you do for our patients, families, and team members! Congratulations on winning the DAISY Award!!
