Barbara is a true patient advocate. She is caring, compassionate, and a champion of our Core Values. Recently a patient recognized Barb for going above and beyond, stating "[He had] been in and out of the hospital battling cancer for a couple of years and felt that she was the most thoughtful nurse [he has] ever encountered". She is frequently named positively by patients during Nurse Leader rounding. She takes the time to connect with her patients on a personal level resulting in more individualized care and increased patient satisfaction. She has also been recognized by the medical staff for her thoroughness, attention to detail, and composure during difficult situations.
Barb is almost always assigned to be charge when she is scheduled and is often called upon to precept new nurses. As a charge nurse, Barb is highly effective and efficient. She has her finger on the pulse of the unit along with having her own patient assignment to deal with. As a preceptor, she is encouraging, helpful and a true mentor. As a Nurse Manager, I have full faith in her abilities to lead in my absence.
