I am so blessed to be able to work with Barb.
My sister moved to Colorado to live with me because she was very ill and was in liver failure. She had gotten nowhere with all the workup she had in Washington and so far in Colorado. She was declining fast.
After multiple trips to many doctors, referrals, and emergency room visits, she was scheduled for a paracentesis. As soon as Barb looked at my sister's lab results to prepare for her paracentesis, she knew this was something that could not wait. Barb immediately called the Liver Transplant Team at Presbyterian/St. Luke's Hospital and informed them of how critical my sister was.
The Transplant Team sprang into action and got my sister to go see them that same day. My sister ended up getting a liver transplant within five days of being admitted to Presbyterian/St. Luke's Hospital. Without Barb's expertise and knowledge, which she had from just viewing lab results, I do not think my sister would be alive today.
I don't think radiology nurses get all the credit they deserve sometimes, just because their time with patients is usually short and only for procedures. Barb definitely deserves to be recognized and highly commended for saving my sister's life.
