On two separate occasions during my husband's 31 day stay in the SICU, Barbara was directly responsible for saving his life. She quickly and intuitively knew something was seriously wrong and quickly went into action. Once a hole was discovered in his stomach and the second time he was bleeding internally. While all the fabulous nurses in SICU took exceptional care of not only him but our entire family; Barbara made sure our family was kept up to date on what was happening when he was so critical and made sure we understood everything going on. Even as he got better Barb was exceptional with his care and helped me understand what his long term care would be like. In my heart the entire SICU team is now a part of our family. It amazes me that one unit has such extraordinary nurses, day and night. However, Barbara Marino is our special hero-angel. Our husband/father is still alive because of her!
