Barbara was the very first nurse to care for me. The day I started treatment, she was there to greet me when I arrived from Special Procedures having just had a permacath placement. I was scared and confused; I had no idea what dialysis was even for. Barbara with her warm and compassionate bedside manner put me at ease and explained each step in detail. She put my family and me at ease. She included my parents in all our conversations with the doctors and really made us part of the healthcare team. She has continued to care for me through the last 8 years I have been on dialysis and is one of my favorite nurses here at Kent Hospital. She is truly one of this Hospital's greatest employees, and a true nurse.
