Barbara is one of our SRM unsung heroes in the EASE department. She has been primarily responsible to all the clinical improvements in the EASE process. Because of Barbara all patients are eased efficiently on telephone and can avoid an unnecessary visit to the hospital. This was a major change from where the majority of inpatients were all being required to come to the hospital. In addition, due to Barbara’s expertise SRM has one of the lowest cancellation rates of all surgical patients due to her excellent assessment of patients. Another area where Barbara has provides excellent nursing care is to our breast surgery patients. Barbara along with management created a new process of EASING so that all these patients who are feeling very vulnerable are supported in a new EASE process. Barbara’s peers rave about her teamwork and her patients give glowing report. Surgery volume starts with EASE and thanks to Barbara’s nursing talent the volume of patients being eased is the highest ever. Barbara is a gem and a glowing representation of nursing at its best.
